Last night we got a rude awakening shortly after 2am. A Korean woman whose husband had left her and moved in with another woman showed up at his apartment for some unknown reason. Lucky me, lives one floor above him. Yeah, I know what your thinking, I got to hear her screaming and banging on the door all night. Actually I didn’t even know where he lived until the police showed up. Why? Because she wasn’t at his door…, she was in the courtyard 100 feet away screaming at the door. Around 2:30, me being me, I grabbed my video camera. Here is the link to a shortened version of her actions last night. I live in one of those very tall apartment complex’s you see all over Korea. Not really anywhere else to live. My complex consists of 4 buildings, most of them (mine anyway) are 18 stories high. She woke up at least one person on every other floor. And we all watched like we accidently changed the channel to Jerry Springer and couldn’t change the channel back cause we wanted to see the end result.

After several minutes of screaming at his door from the first floor, she finally went and sat down on some furniture someone had brought down to be thrown out. Then cried like I have never heard anyone cry before. At over 100 meters away I could hear her cries like she was 10 feet from me. People started to come down to try and remove her, confort her, basically they just wanted to shut her up. At nearly 3am, the police arrived and tried forcing her to go. Two other bystanders assisted the police in trying to get her in the car, but no luck. She managed to talk the single officer into letting her go knock on her husbands door one more time. What she intended to do had he answered I don’t have the slightest clue! After 5 minutes of knocking she gave in and quietly, except for the outrageously loud sobbing, got in the car and drove away with the policeman.

I love my wife dearly, but if I married someone like this lady, I would probably leave her too. This woman has some serious issues. Fortunately I didn’t have to work today or I would be sleeping at work, but it was entertaining regardless even if it was after 3am before I went back to bed.

  1. [...] Last week we had a rude awakening by some crazy woman that wanted her husband to talk with her after he left her and moved in with another woman who happens to live in the apartment almost directly under mine. The front of the building is all opened up so we share a balcony to get to our front doors. We are able to stand on the balcony and look down into the parking area in front of the building…, it’s a common format for these tall apartment buildings that basically house (in my opinion) about 95% of the population of Seoul. Read more about last Monday’s event here. [...]
