Today I had a rather unusual visit to the dentist. It was a simple filling which I have had done before so I knew what to expect. However I had the two biggest clowns in the place. The assistant apparently got bored with the vacume thing at one point so started to poke me in the face and suck my nose and chin. Then at one point freaked out over interest in my watch. Actually took her glove off and made the dentist stop drilling so she could show everyone watch.

My watch isn’t that fancy, I think. It’s a Fossil Big Tic, that cost me around $70 two years ago. The fancy thing about it is the entire face of the watch is an LED that scrolls the seconds.

Fossil Big Tic

Its not like I have a Rolex or anything, its a fossil of all things. But I guess its flashy enough to stop a dentist from doing his work.

I have known about the Army Times wanting to do an article on me for a while now, and actually anticipate the article to be released today. At first I thought the article wasn’t published cause it wasn’t with the regular articles that they publish under news. Which is because it was on the front page of the paper. It wasn’t until I walked into the office and someone called me a celebrity that I caught on that the article was published.

I ran to the shoppette to buy the paper and grabbed a paper. Then walking to the back of the line I about dropped it in disbelief when I saw the front cover.

I didn’t know what to expect, I thought it would be another article like in the Boston Globe where I was portrayed as an out-of-luck trouble-making soldier. I bought the paper and walked back to my car. Even though it was only 20 feet from the entrance it felt like it took forever to get there. My heart was racing and I wanted to move quickly. I knew the Army Times was asking me for a picture, but I kind of brushed them off, deciding to myself that I didn’t want my picture in the paper. I thought someone might recognize me from the possible picture inside. Getting mixed remarks from everyone, those that hate me and those that love me. I didn’t want anyone to see me.

I got in my car, blasted the A/C, and ripped through the plastic. Fumbled through to page 8, nearly ripping the pages, and too my surprise no picture. I started to calm down and started to read.

It wasn’t until I got halfway through with the article until I saw my name, a brief yet casual placement. “The Shamschool operator, Spc. Adam Chrysler“. My name mentioned only 4 times, and they treated me as a CEO of some company instead of a guardian to evil.

The article was not something you would want your name in the paper for, however for having my name involved with this entire circumstance I was very relieved and not as embarrassed as I thought I would be. I felt like I was caught in the middle of something bigger and not the cause of everything. Even though this investigation is on me and not the entire cheating scandal.

Now I get to deal with everyone at work harassing me about having my name in the paper. While talking with one guy he stopped someone walking by to inform him that it was in fact me that made the front page of the Army Times. Afterwards they told me that the guy who bought the paper made a joke saying “watch, Chrysler’s name be in here”. Then ironically it was.

I think the nice thing about all of this is everyone now comes up to me and asks me with a sense of desperation in their voice, “you made ShamSchool?”. One guy told me he knew about it before I even came to Fort Campbell, grinning with a look of disbelief in his face.

I think tomorrow will be the real challenge. I had to deal with everyone during my brief sessions at the company, tomorrow I get the whole day full of jokes and being harassed.

It’s been a long week…, I have had three news article written about me and ShamSchool. I have had reporters from the Boston Globe and the Army times contact me requesting an interview. I have had to shut down my web page. My car has has rocks thrown at it. My unit has been in the field. And my daughter has been to the doctor three times, including the emergency room today.

We first took my daughter because she was having excessive diarrhea, then a high temp, and today because her entire body is covered in a rash. I don’t know what is wrong with the doctors on post but I feel they do everything they can to get us out of their hair. Today was the first time they actually touched my daughter and made a real attempt. The first two times the nurse took her weight and body temp, then the doctor reviewed it and listened to us explain what was wrong. The doctor today actually looked at her ears and throat, and listened to her stomach. The first time they made an attempt to check her pulse but because she was so scared they said it was ok, and didn’t bother.

I still don’t honestly know what is wrong with my daughter but they are saying that she is fine, has a virus, or its all because she is teething her back molars. If I had the money I would probably go off post and take her to a doctor that gives a shit. The ones on post fail to even fake it.

I have now gone and self-medicated and bought her some cream for the rash, and benadryl.

On the plus side I managed to get out and introduce my wife to another wife of someone I work with today. Not sure how well they get along just yet, but considering they are both in nearly identical situations, with the exception of the culture, I am hoping they should get along fine. My wife needs to make some friends around here to help her better understand military life and the American culture. I am hoping this is a step in that direction.

I come home today and see this big dent in the back of my wifes van. Attempting to laugh it off, I walk in the house and ask my wife where she went today. She said she didn’t leave and I told her to just go look at the back of the van and explain. She comes running back and asks me what happened.

Confused as I can be at this point I grab my daughter and all three of us go look a little closer. Brushing it off and seeing bits of concrete in the scratches I was thinking a light pole in a parking lot. Except not a single scratch on the bumper or anywhere else around the dent.

Thinking maybe a delivery truck, or something else backed into it cause of the location we went back inside scratching our heads. Nothing made sense, she was ranting about how we are definitely going to get it fixed, cause she knows we would if it were my car. She drives a purple 2002 Dodge (soccer mom) Caravan with over 70,000 miles on it. I have a 2007 Chevy Cobalt with not even 3,000 miles on it. Yet, she doesn’t see the difference. The dent on the van was on the rear door about two inches below the window.

After some thought I was thinking kids, maybe cause I wasn’t so much an angel myself when I was younger and I could relate. I went back outside and plain as day this huge chunk of a cement block about 12 feet from the van. Meaning they threw it hard enough for it to bounce 12 feet off my wifes van.

I picked up the rock and examined it a little closer. Sure enough my assumption was right, ugly purple paint on the rock. I show my wife and she demands I find out who did it. Knowing its a lost cause I spend 30 minutes looking for the number to the police station, only to have an automated message tell me to call 911 regardless if its an emergency or not.

I call request an officer to file a report, spend a half hour with him and as he is about to leave a neighbor lady shows up. She explains that she saw a group of middle school age boys hanging around the end of my driveway at 11pm last night and heard a bang and saw them run off. Which these same boys she claims to have had problems with herself in the past.

I have a $0 deductible on both my cars, so getting it fixed isn’t a problem. Now I just have to find the time to get it there, which I am lacking lately.

Some days I feel like my entire world is crashing. I don’t know what it is lately but it seems like there is just one issue right after another.

Today I get counseled on two of my web sites. I am forced to remove certain items from those sites. I think its the videos that pissed me off the most. I am going to have to re-edit one so I can post it back on the site. I guess I can’t say too much, in a way I knew it was coming. I am actually surprised no one, besides the one civilian that asked my grandmother before he asked me, has asked me to remove the content from the site if its that big of a deal.

I have now removed all the content, I hope and now I get the demeaning task of keeping the content off. I guess on the brighter side I will be able to focus more on the other content.
