So you want to know who I am?
I am a Leo, enjoy long walks on the beach, and…, ok not really. I hate the beach, sand gets in my shoes. I like hiking, biking, sleeping in the middle of nowhere with no supplies, and anything else that gives me a rush.
“Cocaine is expensive, adrenalin is free!”
I write about everything that goes on in my life, good or bad, even the stuff most people would find embarrassed about. I hold no regrets in life, everything is a learning experience. My karma goes in extremes. When I have bad luck, the world feels like its coming to an end. When I have good luck, money falls from the sky. I have yet to be able to find a place in the middle.
I am a bit of a geek and have had a computer in my house since I was 7 years old (1985). A Tandy 1000 TX, a 286 with a 30MB HDD and 640K of RAM. Most of the other kids in my school didn’t even have a VCR yet. At the same time I lived waaaaaaaaaaaay out in the middle of nowhere. (Marathon, NY population 1,107). Town was 3 miles away, there was 3 stop signs along the way, and a single traffic light once I got there. I walked it many times, it took just under an hour. Growing up in the country like this I was always hiking and biking, just to get where I needed. At the time I never gave it a second glance, but as soon as I graduated high school I moved away and slowly started to miss it. With these two passions it only made sense to combine the two and I became a communications specialist for the Army.
This is about what you can expect to find here. My stories, life happenings, and personal interests. Browse through the subpages to view more details on some of my hobbies and interests. I rarely use any of the other social networking sites even though they are listed here. Occasionally I check them, but primarily I have them so that long lost friends are able to find me. I also have some friends that play the numbers game and want everyone they know to have an account to add to their friends list. To keep tabs on me this is the site you will want to bookmark.
…anything but typical
The phrase “anything but typical” was originally used by Kevin Baron in an article he wrote about another website that I created. The article ran on July 23, 2007 in the Boston Globe. The article is full of discrepancies and other false reports. (My hobbies are not cars and computer games, I got one speeding ticket, and my wife is just fine in the U.S…. I could go on.) I made an attempt to get him to understand how the Army works but he was more interested in selling newspapers. He made the comment that I present myself as just a typical soldier (a discrepancy), but I am “anything but typical”. This comment is the only thing in more than half a dozen article that was accurate. As a joke to myself and those who know, I adapted that phrase as the subline to my blog. This blog is also where he is getting the majority of his quotes for his articles, which makes using here all the more appropriate.
While on the subject…
- The Army is a government organization that discriminates which jobs are available to only men, prohibiting women to be considered equal in the workplace. Woman have a completely seperate standard in which their performance is scored. Which in any other organization or corporation would be procicuted for “gender discrimination”.
- Either male or female whose sexual preference is homosexual or bisexual is completely prohibited. If the person does join the Army and it is later exposed that him/her is not hetrosexual then they are fired. Actions such as marriage, living arrangements, or other situations where their sexual preference is documented is subject to be terminated and recieve an “other-than-honorable” discharge from the military. This goes on a permanent record and may have an effect on their life later on. This is not only discrimination but the permanent record is “black listing” them from futher employment.
An organization that works this way and is considered generally acceptable is not a typical organization. So please stop asking me about how this organization files paperwork. ACCP is just paperwork, unless you seriously think we need to know how to twirl a batton. Yes, some of these may cover other things too like patriot missles. Except, why do I need to know how to operate a patriot missle? Do you want me to operate a patriot missle with only the training I obtained on the internet?
