I went through and found a new theme for my blog this weekend.  The main reason is I am not trying out Twitter and with the old theme I had to go into the theme’s PHP files in order to change anything.  This took time and extra work.  So after a quick search I found a theme that was widget ready and suited my taste with colors and graphics and made the switch.  A couple widgets had to be installed that do the same thing as the codes I had installed before them, but this makes everything a lot easier to edit, add, and change.

I’m working on installing everything that was once here but I think a lot of it I can easily do without.  I am still trying to make this blog an alternative to MySpace or Facebook, giving me more control over everything and the ability to add or subtract the content I choose.

Kinda a slow and boring day. Spent the majority of it planning a day of going out, rather than actually going out. In the process I managed to find a few more things to add to my blog, such as this one travel widget below.

The sad part is that I really haven’t gone to that many places. I need to get out more and do more things instead of sitting in front of the computer, blogging about getting out. My wife is big on traveling and if she had a map like this I am sure it would be a lot greener than mine. It would also probably make her a lot happier to do some more traveling.

I am so excited with myself. After about a week of converting the mySQL database, going through themes, editing three different themes in an attempt to make this site function the way I wanted before finally deciding on one (or actually a combination of 7 or so themes) I am happy with the results.

Going from one theme to another I would find something new that I wanted to include in my theme that would change the entire format of the site, or I would find an easier way to do something that I already decided on. Bottom line I am very happy with the results. I am now running strictly WordPress, no CMS hack. A theme that I partly designed and partly stole. I am still wanting to change the background, but when the day comes its very simple to replace the one image without much change to the site.

Since I am running strictly WordPress now I can change the theme easily and quickly, and also add options and plugins. I have already installed a stats counter along with a SPAM protection that I didn’t have before. As I am writing this I can see that every minute or so it is automatically saving on its own every 2 minutes.

Someone asked me the other day how many domains I have, when I told him that I own 25 he wanted to know what they all were. Because there were so many I couldn’t remember them all off the top of my head, so I am making this list now so he, and others that are interested know.
